Do you choose your outfit based on how to hide sweat marks? It doesn't have to be this way. Hyperhidrosis is abnormally excessive sweating that's not necessarily related to heat or exercise. It can cause sweating so much that it soaks through your clothes or drips off your hands or forehead. Besides disrupting normal daily activities, this type of heavy sweating can cause social anxiety, embarrassment, and avoidance of enjoyable activities. While there can be medical conditions that cause excessive sweating (e.g. thyroid issues, diabetes, medication side effects, and cancer), there are also many people who just sweat...always have, BUT it doesn't have to be this way forever! There are several treatment options and tox is just one. Treatment with botulinum toxin (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Nuceiva, others) temporarily blocks the nerves that cause sweating. Your skin can be iced or anesthetized first and we use a distraction vibration device to improve comfort during injections. Each affected area of your body will need several injections. The effects last 6 to 12 months, and then the treatment needs to be repeated. This treatment can be uncomfortable, and some people experience temporary muscle weakness in the treated area. Patients report significant improvement in sweating and positive impact on quality of life as a result! If you have issues with excessive sweating, book a complementary consultation to discuss options.
