I know it's cold here in Canada (blizzard conditions today in Manitoba) BUT sunscreen is still essential!
Here's why applying sunscreen should be an essential step to your skincare routine this winter (and every season). ❄🌞 UV exposure can almost double in winter months...thanks to the snow Light-coloured surfaces reflect the sun’s rays like a mirror, which causes UV rays to bounce off to you. So a day out in the snow is like a day at the beach...only also add in wind burn potential with further drying effects on our first line of defense (our hydrated and smooth skin)! Up to 80% of UV rays can penetrate through fog, clouds, haze and windows. And lead to hyperpigmentation changes, wrinkles, leathery texture, and the big C 😲 So using a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily can help protect against the ravages of UV exposure throughout the year...add it to your winter basket beside your touque, mits, and scarf! ❄☃💖 Stay warm and safe everyone Cindy Fehr RN(NP)
